Using Your Rice Cooker
IMPORTANT: Please double-check that all packaging material has been removed from the appliance before operating for the first time. Check to see that all accessories are functional, and the appliance is not damaged.
BEFORE FIRST USE: Wash the inner pot in warm, soapy water. Rinse and let dry.
USING YOUR RICE COOKER
NOTE: 1 cup of raw rice makes approximately 3 cups of cooked
rice.
AMOUNT OF RAW RICE // SUGGESTED AMOUNT OF WATER TO ADD
- 1 CUP RICE >> 1-1.5 CUPS WATER
- 2 CUPS RICE >> 2-2.5 CUPS WATER
- Measure and wash your rice. Wash rice in a separate bowl until the water runs mostly clear.
- Add rice to the inner pot. Add water to the inner pot based on the standard explained above.
- Position inner pot in the rice cooker. Gently turn the pot to ensure it is correctly placed. Close the lid.
- Plug the rice cooker into the electrical socket. Only plug it in when ready to cook. If the cooker will not cook, check to see if the inner pot is correctly positioned.
- Press the switch. The red “Cooking” indicator light will illuminate.
- When the rice is finished cooking the switch will flip (with a clicking sound) and automatically move to the “Keep Warm” stage. The red “Cooking” light will go off and the yellow “Keep Warm” light will come on.
- We recommend leaving the lid covering the rice for 6-8 minutes to steam the rice. Always keep the lid closed to prevent the rice from drying out or becoming discolored.
- Unplug the cooker when finished. Note: the “Keep Warm” stage will only come on if the cooker is plugged in. If the cooker is plugged in and the switch flipped on, the “Keep Warm” stage will always be active.
CAUTION: If the switch is difficult to press down or there is resistance to moving to the “Cooking” position, do not force it down. It could be that the inner pot is not correctly positioned inside the cooker.
WARNING: Do not leave any utensils in the cooker while it is in the “Keep Warm” stage. Do not use the “Keep Warm” stage to reheat rice that has already been cooked.
IMPORTANT: Be aware not to overfill the inner pot. Overfilling the cooker can cause spillage and potentially property damage.
